Checklist for Executives (Stage 2)

  • Write down your 2-5 high level goals in clear, everyday language without buzzwords or jargon
  • Present these goals to the organization
  • Ask a developer to explain your goals back to you
  • Ask how their current work supports a goal (directly or indirectly)
  • Use a simple spreadsheet to measure shippable features as an indication of team progress
  • Calculate the team’s historical constant rate of work and adjust targets to match
